Vandals have targeted the former home of disgraced TV presenter Jimmy Savile.
Police in Fort William said Savile’s cottage at Allt Na Reigh had been daubed with “abusive slogans” during Saturday night.
The property has stood empty since the TV presenter died last year aged 84. He had owned it since 1998.

A vandal damaged 10 cars in a street by scratching them.
The cars, in Spendlow Gardens, Eyres Monsell, Leicester, were damaged between 4.55pm and 5.20pm on Monday, October 8.
The vandal scratched “TDC!” on to the vehicles’ bonnets or windows.

The son of an artist who created Milton Keynes’ replica concrete cows has claimed responsibility for “vandalism” that turned them into skeletons.
Ryan Billings, the son of community artist Bill Billings, said he painted the three cows and three calves last week to “save art” in the town.
The Parks Trust initially condemned the actions but now says the pieces could remain unchanged until the spring.
Police said the incident was being investigated as criminal damage.

Shopkeepers on a picturesque high street arrived to find their windows smashed in a vandal attack.
More than a dozen windows were put through in Ramsbottom, where business owners found their shops littered with broken glass when they went to open up.
Among the stores targeted in the apparently random attack were a cafe, charity shop, gift shop, furniture store and a clothes shop.
It is understood a church and a bank were also targeted in the raid on Bridge Street and Bolton Road. Police have launched an investigation and a man has been arrested.

AROUND 15 cars had their tyres slashed overnight when vandals hit Lawford Bridge Close on Monday night.The cars were in a car park that belonged to a set of flats off Lawford Road near Cemex. Residents woke in the morning to be confronted by the site of around 15 cars that had suffered damage, nearly all of them with all four tyres slashed.

ABOUT 100 homes and businesses in two villages near York have been left without power today after vandals damaged electricity cables.
The problem, affecting the villages of Ellerton and Aughton, betweenSelby and Pocklington, was reported at 7.40am today and engineers from Northern Powergrid have been on the scene since about 9.15am today.
Supplies were eventually reconnected to all properties just before 8pm, with a spokesman for Northern Powergrid confirming the power cut was due to “vandalism of overhead cables” in the area and the company has reported the crime to police.

Firefighters were called to a BMW car set on fire in London Colney in the early hours of this morning. A BMW was set ablaze on a drive way in Alexander Road at around 2:30am this morning. The fire, which took one hour to put out, is suspected arson and no one was injured.

Police are investigating two arson attacks on BMWs in Keighley in the early hours of today. The first took place at around 1am on Devonshire Street where a BMW 5 series car was damaged by flames. The second happened just a few hours later, at around, 4am on Malsis Road where a BMW X5 is suspected to have been set on fire deliberately.

Hundreds of Gossops Green residents lost the use of their phone and internet because of vandalism to underground cables in the area. Loss of service was reported on Thursday (October 18) and some customers were still without their phone lines on Monday (October 22). John Bowden has been in prison more than thirty years for the drunken
killing of someone who pulled a knife on him at a party. While John’s two co-defendants were released more than twenty years ago, John remains in a high security prison despite the Parole Board’s recommendations that he be prepared for release. John has been at the forefront of the prison struggle throughout most of his time inside, he quickly developed a political consciousness and a deep understanding of the role of prison in society, as well as a tactical understanding of the power relations between the captured and their captors.
Also, throughout his time inside, John has been punished for his role as a prison militant and organizer, and for exposing the barbarity and inhumanity of prison through his writing. The system and the vengeful screws that are its foot-soldiers have constantly tried to break John, viciously brutalising him and subjecting him to the most inhumane conditions. Even today, they are prepared to flagrantly ignore the recommendations of the Parole Board that he be moved to open conditions and prepared for release. John is constantly having to put up with provocations and dirty tricks from his captors, while they do everything they can to prolong his incarceration.
It has been clear for many years that John Bowden is not being held in prison because of the killing he committed thirty years ago, but because of the way he has developed as a human-being despite the worst excesses of the prison system, because he continues to maintain his integrity and humanity, because he has a political consciousness that sees prison for the barbarity that it is, and because he remains unbroken. John Bowden is an enemy of the System, and as long as he continues to hold his head high, the vengeful evil bastards that hold him in their clutches; the spineless dog-turd turn-keys and their sick pay-masters, will do everything they can to see that he is never released.
For his part, John has sworn that if it is a choice between surrendering that part of himself that has allowed him to resist throughout three decades of incarceration, that has compelled him to challenge injustice in spite of the personal cost to himself, he would sooner die in jail.
John Bowden is a comrade who deserves our fullest support, and it is time to FIGHT to get him out. This is a call-out from Leeds ABC for an International Day of Action in support of John Bowden on Friday October 19th. John has remained staunch all these years, he deserves to be shown that he is not isolated and alone. Please organise solidarity actions for October 19th.

We the gremlins are squatting at Gremlin Alley, City Road, Cardiff; formally known as Spin Bowling Alley and the Giety Cinema and bingo hall.
Yesterday we successfully resisted an eviction from bayliffs and harrassment from police who attended for most of the day from 10AM. Banners including “We are resisting eviction: Fuck the fucking fuckers”, “Solidarity with Alex Haigh, imprisoned for 3 months for being homeless”, amongst others being displayed. Anarchists, DPAC, activists, travellers, local artists, plain-clothes cops and the public supported outside. We received donations from small businesses; after police left around 3:30PM, we put up black flags and more banners and continued our party on the roof. Anti-cop music was played from supporters opposite followed by a local band ‘Inconsiderate Parking‘ who played for hours with people dancing in the street in the day.
As we go into the weekend we are strengthening and re-inforcing existing security, with 24/7 surviellence. We welcome visitors, people to join us and continued support. A MAN walked into Wrexham Jobcentre, doused himself in petrol and threatened to set himself alight. About 50 members of staff were evacuated from the Jobcentre Plus building yesterday (Wednesday) after the man’s dramatic announcement. Emergency services were scrambled to the building on Grosvenor Road and a stand-off ensued with the man who was holding a lighter. Five police cars, an ambulance and a fire crew were called at about 3pm and police blocked off the entry and exit points.
The police stated to the media that the man had been “taken into medical care” but its not clear at this point what happened.
All we can say is fuck the dehumanising system that makes us crazy and miserable and takes away our dignity.

A 22-year-old prisoner who had just been refused a bail application leaped out of the dock at West Norfolk Magistrates’ Court in Lynn this (Monday) lunchtime and ran out of the building.
Police are looking for the escaped man, Riki McGrath, of Wistaria Road, Wisbech, who had been before the court for four alleged offences, including dangerous driving and abandoning a moving Audi car and allowing it to roll across a railway crossing as a train was approaching, at Watlington yesterday (Sunday).
The defendant was pursued through the court building in College Lane by an officer who had been beside him in the dock and court security staff, but once outside he made his escape through Saturday Market Place.
He had just heard the magistrates decline jurisdiction over the alleged offences and turn down his application for bail. As they were waiting to hear a suitable committal date to Crown Court, Mr McGrath made his leap to freedom.

Police are appealing for information following an arson attack at Debenhams store on Parliament Street in Harrogate.
At around 12.30am in the early hours of Friday 28 September 2012, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service were called to the fire which was started in a wheelie bin positioned outside the loading bay doors on Union Street.
Damage was caused to the loading bay doors as well as smoke damage to the interior of the shop.
