An inmate used netting aimed at stopping drugs being thrown over the walls to prisoners to help him clamber on to the roof of a Birmingham prison in a five-hour stand-off, it has been claimed.
The Prison Officers’ Association confirmed that the lone prisoner absconded to the roof of HMP Birmingham in Winson Green at around 1pm yesterday.
